The Schulich School of Law and ±«Óãtv University is profoundly saddened by the loss of a great leader and friend: The Honourable Justice (and former Dean and former President) W Andrew MacKay.
Justice MacKay passed away on January 12. He served as a much loved professor of constitutional law at our School and later as vice-president and president of ±«Óãtv. He chaired the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission. He served as a judge of the Federal Court of Canada. And he led us as Dean from 1964-1969. W Andrew MacKay made a remarkable contribution to our School and to the University as a whole. He was, in the fullest sense, a champion of the University – both ±«Óãtv specifically and the broader idea of the University as a place where we test ideas and explore hard questions. Our heartfelt thoughts are with Alexa and the entire MacKay family.
