A student-run vegetable farm in the heart of Bible Hill, N.S., has anyone with an interest in sustainable agriculture to drop by its stand later this month as part of Nova Nova Scotia Open Farm Day (Sept. 21).

, part of ±«Óătv’s Agricultural Sandbox, serves as a living lab for sustainable agriculture. Managed by four ±«Óătv agriculture students and a farm coordinator, Sustain models real-world solutions for food security and climate resilience, while building strong ties between students, community and industry.

“We are a small, student-run vegetable garden that features a multitude of different crops,” says Savannah Gould, a fourth-year Agricultural Business student. “We utilize sustainable farming techniques and host weekly vegetable sales and CSA boxes. Our goal is to build collaboration across our campus and community.”

With strong support from community partners like Masstown Market, Community Credit Union and TD Bank, Sustain is creating a vibrant hub of learning, innovation and action.

“Sustain exists to show that sustainable farming isn’t just possible here in Nova Scotia — it’s essential. It gives students the skills, the confidence and the connections to become the next generation of agri-leaders,” said Jason Grant, Cultiv8’s program manager.

Whether you're a curious community member, aspiring grower, or a passionate supporter of local food systems, come see firsthand how students are growing food and the future.

Sustain by Cultiv8 is located at 77 Pictou Road.

NS Open Farm Day is proudly coordinated by the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture’s Meet Your Farmer program.
