JWMS Student makes it to the Quarterfinals in the Scripps National Spelling Bee

John Warner Middle School eighth grader, Aanya Shetty, recently advanced to the Scripps National Spelling Bee quarterfinals before being eliminated in the fourth round.  She misspelled Marrite.

 

She was one of 245 quarterfinalists. 

 

This was her third and final appearance in the national bee near Washington, D.C.; she recently completed eighth grade and will start high school this fall. Eligibility for the bee ends after eighth grade or when students turn 16.
