Community Scholar Series: Dr. Joy Becker
Professor Joy Becker is an internationally recognized leader in aquaculture health, biosecurity, and sustainable food production.
She is Deputy Head of School at the University of Sydney, with over 20 years’ experience working at the interface of science, industry, and policy.
Joy leads applied research in aquaculture and disease management that directly informs industry practice and regulatory decision‑making.
She is founding Co‑Editor‑in‑Chief of Aquaculture, Fish and Fisheries. She currently serves on the NSW Fisheries Scientific Committee, providing independent scientific advice to support sustainable fisheries and aquaculture industries.
