Every year, the Fountain School offers an extraordinary parade of performances powered by our students, on stage and behind the scenes.

You'll see emerging actors, musicians, singers, and performers fill our stages and concert hall. Behind the scenes, our students develop music ensembles, compose original scores, build costumes and sets, design lighting, and even stage manage our live theatre productions, bringing creative collaborations to life.

Together with faculty and guest artists, they create inspiring experiences for our audiences while learning their crafts and preparing for careers in the performing arts.

2026 Fall term

This year's theatre season begins with a staging of Martin Crimp's 1997 play Attempts on Her Life (Oct. 14-17), a dazzling postmodern kaleidoscope in which seventeen scenarios attempt to define one woman's identity.听

Our annual staged opera brings together our music and theatre students. This year, DalOpera presents Donizetti's 1831 comic opera L'elisir d'Amore (Nov. 26-29), about a foolish peasant who buys a love potion.听

Music concerts by the DalJazz Ensemble (Nov. 25), the DalWind Ensemble (Dec. 1), and DalChorus (Dec. 6) will fill the Joseph Strug Concert Hall.听

2027 Winter term

Our winter terms kicks off with the annual Fountain School Showcase (Jan. 23), which brings together students and teachers of Music who will demonstrate their extraordinary skills.

In our听Devised Theatre Production (Feb. 2-4, 6) student actors and crew create a brand new play from scratch. Emerging director (and DalTheatre alum) Logan Robbins will direct the show, drawing on the students' own experiences and ideas.听

Music ensemble concerts abound in March, including the Dal Contemporary Music Ensemble (March 6), the Dal Guitar Concert (March 10), and DalOpera Scenes (March 13). Concerto Night, is March 16th, a grand concert in the Rebecca Cohn, featuring amazing Music, Voice, and Composition student soloists performing with DalSymphony Orchestra.听

For our final theatrical production, legendary theatre director Peter Hinton-Davis (of Stratford and NAC fame) will direct the eighteenth-century comedy The Rivals, by Richard Brinsley Sheridan (March 23-25, 27), an hilarious tale of lies, mistakes, and romantic idealism.听

Spring music concerts include the DalWind Ensemble (April 2), a joint concert from DalChorus and the Composition Students (April 4), the DalJazz Ensemble (April 8), and the Dal Chamber Music Ensemble (April 9).听

We bring our season to a glorious conclusion with the annual Costume Studies Historical Dress Presentation (April 13), where Costume students showcase extraordinary dress reproductions they've created for their graduating projects.听

Numerous masterclasses and our free noon hour music series are open to the public throughout the season.听
