Undergraduate Program

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program prepares students to become Registered Nurses (RNs) who can practice locally, nationally, and internationally. The program combines classroom learning with hands-on clinical experience to prepare graduates for a wide range of health-care settings.

±«Óătv University’s School of Nursing offers two admission options:

Semester 1 Entry (ES1): For students entering directly from high school or those who have not completed the required university prerequisites. Semester 1 entry takes three years (eight semesters) to complete.

Semester 3 Entry (ES3): For students who have already completed the required non-nursing university prerequisites. Semester 3 entry is completed over two years (six semesters).

Study Locations

Students may complete their degree at either our Halifax campus or our Yarmouth campus. Regardless of location, experiential learning is central to the program. Each year, students participate in clinical courses that include placements in a wide range of health-care settings, including hospitals, community agencies, long-term care facilities, schools, clinics, and other community-based environments.

Transfers between the Halifax and Yarmouth campuses are not permissible.

Residents of Nunavut may apply to the BScN (Arctic Nursing) program, offered in partnership with .

Certificate Options

In addition to the core BScN curriculum, the School of Nursing offers optional certificate pathways that allow students to pursue focused study beyond the generalist level. These certificates are designed to align with current service sector needs and emerging areas of nursing practice.

Approved Nursing Certificates include:

  • Oncology
  • Public Health
  • Mental Health and Addictions Nursing
  • Perinatal and Paediatric Nursing
  • Acute/Critical Care Nursing
